I saw this crazy post on Warrior Forum. Two “marketers” were freaking out over the fact that the “big competition” was going to see how much money there was in Internet Marketing. Then, they’d “move in” and take over the market.

The arguments looked good. And then I realized… the post is 10 years old.

And in those 10 years, a whole bunch of “little guys” have started and grown incredibly successful businesses.
For example:
- Russell Brunson started Click Funnels in October 2014 (4 years after this post) and they’ve had huge success. One of his biggest competitors was Lead Pages – who raised $38 Million Dollars in venture capital to grow their business.
- A client of mine started their business in 2011 and grew it to millions of dollars in revenue.
- Other marketers have leveraged the rise of Facebook and Social Media to enter existing markets, build a huge following, and knock off the established giants.
- And, look at all the “Influencers” who have more followers than established brands in the same space.
So, for the people who understand marketing and are willing to learn new marketing channels, the opposite is true. The “big companies” are at a huge disadvantage in the worlds of Online Marketing, Social Media, and new marketing channels.
I’ll admit, business can be “dog eat dog” competitive. But, this is ridiculous. If you work hard, create a competitive product or service, and market it right, you can build a successful business.
Some markets are more competitive than others. For example, I’m not going to try and build a CRM to compete with Hubspot. E-Commerce will become more difficult as Amazon becomes the dominant sales channel there.
But, the world is not ending. Great marketers with a good product or service can compete against the “big competition” and win.
